Hard-working floors for halls and kitchens
For busy entrance spaces and kitchens, LVT is usually one of the strongest choices. It is easier to wipe down than carpet and tends to cope well with muddy paw prints, damp shoes, and daily traffic. A wood-look finish can still feel soft and welcoming.
This is often the best place to start when people ask for something dog friendly or easier to clean.
Carpet still has a place
Carpet is not off the list in dog-owning homes. It simply needs a bit more thought. A forgiving colour, a tougher pile, and the right underlay can make a big difference. Bedrooms and lounges often still suit carpet best, especially when comfort matters.
The trick is choosing by room rather than forcing one answer through the whole house.
Do not overlook runners
Runners work well in dog-owning homes because they add grip and warmth without covering every inch of the floor. A stair runner can also make stairs feel safer for dogs and people alike. In hallways, a runner sets out a hard-wearing path and can be easier to replace or refresh later than a full carpeted area.
Think about how the house is used
The right floor is not only the toughest product on the market. It is the product that suits the room, the people, and the pets in it. If the house gets a lot of wet traffic through the kitchen door, start there. If the dog sleeps in the lounge and the family wants softness underfoot, carpet may still be the better answer there.
